The color scheme is different on the two wings here so that I can decide which I like best. I decided on the right wing. I think it is important to have the leading edge white so that it will maintain the highest level of strength in the area that needs it the most. The colors are reminiscent of FedEx and the layout was taken from a KR photo that I found on the web. I understand from Rick Wilson, that this plane was built by Wes Evans in the late1980s or early 1990s. A quick search of the KR Newsletter CD shows Wes Evans in the May 1981 issue attending the 1981 EAA Regional Flyin at El Mirage in N42CW. The quality of the pictures is not too good because of my computer knowledge with Paint Shop Pro. It does give a good idea of what the finished product will look like. I'm still thinking about using a full color rudder and fin like Rich Shirley's KR1.
My example above using the front and rear schemes together seems to me to be too much color. Next step is to change the wings to Rich Shirley's scheme and see if that provides the look I'm after.
Right now I'm leaning toward using Dupont Imeron with the extra hardener. I have experience painting some of my old Porsche's with this and was very satisfied with the finish.
